Just Another Day At The Office is a very short read about how Phillip aka The Governor came to save Woodbury and take control of the town. At the very end of the Rise Of The Governor which is the very first book in this series, Phillip stumbles across a new town but with the immediate threat of zombies that are close to breaking down the walls. As Philip ultimately saves the town from the zombie horde and sets us up for what is to come in this series as Phillip as the leader.

I was kinda disappointed at with how short this book was and I felt it would have been better with it in Rise Of The Governor than as a short novella. I will though continue to buy whatever Walking Dead books that come out even if they are as short as this just to have a piece of The Walking Dead! I think that as much hate as this book gets for being as short as it is, it's a great marketing tool to get more people buying anything that have The Walking Dead attached to it!

Thank You to Jay Bonansinga for writing this very short book that is part of a much bigger series that I totally love!!

Rise Of The Governor is the first book in The Walking Dead : The Governor series! Brothers, Brian & Phillip, Phillip's young daughter Penny and two high school friends of Phillips, Bobby & Nick are left to fend for themselves during the start of the zombie apocalypse. As they find a house to hole up in, a series of unfortunate events happen that leaves Bobby dead and the other wanting to get to Atlanta to the supposed safe area. Once they get to Atlanta, nothing is what it seems there.

As they fight through the zombie herds and they realize that Atlanta is not safe, they happen to stumble upon another group of survivors. After Phillip makes a huge mistake, they are forced out once again to find yet another safe spot. It takes a raid by other survivors on the farmhouse they find for the events that lead up to Brian becoming the Governor!

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! Granted, I totally love the Walking Dead world but this one was a fantastic start to how the Governor came to be in the show! You can see how a weak person like Brian was in the beginning that made him be the strong man by the end of this book for what happened to him and the group. If you are a total Walking Dead nerd like myself, you need to read this series that shows what happened long before Woodbury!

Thank You to Robert Kirkman & Jay Bonansinga for starting this novel series that ties in to the greatest show on TV right now!!

Life And Death is issues 139-144 of the popular The Walking Dead comics! With the first trading fair underway in Alexandra, behind the scenes nothing is going right. With Carl missing, Maggie dealing with her problems at Hilltop, Negan trying to pull one over Rick and Michonne finally back, it all leads to Rick finding Carl among the Whispers. The Whispers show Rick what will happen to them if they don't stay away in a shocking ending that will leave you wondering how are they gonna overcome this new danger.

I so wasn't ready for that ending that will send shock-waves for Rick and everyone in the comics to come. Having Michonne back was pretty cool since she really wasn't around for a couple of issues and to see that Maggie is turning into Rick in her own way makes you think where this story-line is headed especially after what happens in the Whispers camp. It kinda sucks that this will be the last comic I will read for awhile since my local Library doesn't have the current issue 25 yet but once I get it, I'm gonna devour that issue and be patiently waiting for the next!!

Thank You to Robert Kirkman for that ending that was so good that it made other cliff hanger endings seem like a walk in the park!

Whispers Into Screams is issues 133-138 of the popular The Walking Dead comics! Two big plot lines takes place with the first that deals with Carl and Sophia in which they get beaten by two bullies who claim innocence with Carl being the person who started it. The second plot line is a group of Whispers who wear zombie faces to blend in and they attack Jesus's group and he manages to take one back to Hilltop. As Carl and this Whisper who turns out to be a teenage girl who Carl falls in love with over their talks in the prison. With a rebellion against Maggie which ultimately fails, it sets us up for what Carl is gonna do in the next issue!

I loved this issue and every plot-line that was shown especially Carl's. Now we know what the Whispers are, I can sense a war coming on with them or at lest something bad that is gonna involved this girl and Carl. I did find the whole try to get rid of Maggie plot-line was already used before but it was interesting to see it again in a whole new way. I can only imagine what is to come for everyone but it's gonna be good!!

Thank You to Robert Kirkman for giving Carl more time in the comics to see where his story is going!!

A New Beginning is issues 127-132 of the popular The Walking Dead comics! It's several years later and it's a whole new world with everyone coming together to make it a better place with trading and safer roads to travel between the settlements. Carl wants to move to Hilltop from Alexandra to become a blacksmith but Rick isn't so sure letting him leave his side. With a new group coming in and with a new threat lurking outside the walls, nothing is what is seems for this community.

I thought that this comic was setting us up for what is to come with everyone leading kinda normal lives because you know that nothing like this can last forever for Rick and the gang. It was cool to see Carl and Maggie more and how Eugene has come into his own and not scared of everything. This new threat is kinda creepy if you think about it and I would love to see it on the show!!

Thank You to Robert Kirkman for bringing this new threat in the most creepiest way ever!!

With Rick on to this new plan of Negan's, they come out and finish this war once and for all with an unexpected twist that nobody will see coming!

That ending leaves me wondering where this story is going and it's gonna be awesome!! I never thought that using zombie juice as a weapon but if you think about it, it's the perfect weapon that no one will see coming and it would be cool to see that used in the TV show! I'm not liking that I'm down to less than five issues to read but at lest I know that more are coming and not stopping anytime soon.

Thank You to Robert Kirkman for the perfect ending to the war that sets us up for what is to come!

All Out War - Part One is issues 115-120 of the popular The Walking Dead comics! The war is finally here and with everyone at the gates of Negan's compound willing to take the stand against him, only fate will determine who will live. After the standoff at Negan's compound that leaves Negan stranded, it's up to everyone else to take care of the little sub-station but not all goes as planned and with everyone making their way back to Alexandria, a bigger stand is about to happen. We are left with Negan blasting his way through Alexandra and a group not wanting to back down even if it will cost them their lives!

Now it's getting good and I can only imagine how this is gonna play out on the TV series! I do think Rick and his group underestimated what Nagan is capable of but only time will tell who will make it out alive. I'm getting down to the single digits of how many comics is left for me to read and it's gonna be a sad day when I have them all read and just waiting for the next one to come out.

Thank You to Robert Kirkman for having this war between good and evil and for making everyone guess how it's all gonna end!

As Rick comes back to find Negan living in one of the houses, Rick throws the first punch that will send all thee group into a all out battle with Negan!

This comic has made me excited to see who will come out of this war with Negan alive and it was the perfect setup to what is to come. It was nice to see other characters like Maggie in this comic rather just seeing like Rick and Negan. I can only imagine what this battle will be like on TV but I can bet that it's gonna be awesome!!

What Comes After is issues 103-108 of the popular The Walking Dead comics! With everyone not liking this new way of living, a surprise visit from Negan and his goonies will leave everyone on edge. As Carl slips away with Negan unnoticed until they get back to Negan's compound, it will leave everyone back at Alexandria wandering where and how did Carl leave. With Carl in the hands of the enemy and discovering what Negan is really like, Rick shows up at the gate wanting his son back. As everyone is safe back in Alexandria, Jesus shows up with a plan and takes Rick to meet with another group that wants to end Negan and his reign of terror.

All I have to say is Carl is not afraid of nothing and is willing to do what is needed to get some answers and I do believe he is gonna be my favorite from here on out! It's kinda cool to see how this might all end someday but hopefully not soon and I could sense a war coming on that is gonna be something that will change everything for everyone. With the ending of the TV series last spring and getting to see a knight and a horse makes you wonder what is that all about but after reading this comic, it all makes sense and makes me wish that the new season is here already!

Thank You to Robert Kirkman for never failing to surprise me in the direction that this series is going!

Something To Fear is issues 97-102 of the popular The Walking Dead comics! It starts off with two people coming under attack from the Saviors and when Rick and some others make a run for Hilltop, they run into Negan himself. The scenes that follow will haunted Rick and the others and will force them to make some hard decisions in the days ahead and how they will end this fight with Negan once and for all.

OMG, This edition will have you screaming and crying all at the same time for what Negan is doing to Rick and the crew. I have been waiting for this issue for awhile now ever since the show left us with who Negan kills but not everything is the same in the show so it's gonna be interesting to see who really dies and if it's gonna be that graphic of a scene. The more I read of the comics, the more I love them just because you think it's gonna be one way and you get pulled into a whole new direction by the end!

Thank You to Robert Kirkman for having a character as brutal as Negan is to show that this world is not safe at all!

A Larger World is issues 91-96 of the popular The Walking Dead comics! When a stranger named Jesus comes across the group while looking for food, he tells them of a bigger compound with food to offer to them. Rick doesn't trust him but he does go back with him to Jesus's compound to only discover that they are dealing with a big threat in the name of Negan! With a deal made between Rick and this new group for food in exchange for dealing with Negan, nothing will ever be the same for Rick and crew.

I loved this issue and I know I'm only about one or two issues away to where the show left off this past spring. I could understand where Rick wants to protect his group from other people but I know it's not gonna be pretty once it's all said and done. It does make you think about what would really happen in real life and something like this happened and where everyone would stand with each other.

Thank You to Robert Kirkman for having the perfect comic book series out there or at lest to me it is!

We Find Ourselves is issues 85-90 of the popular The Walking Dead comics! As Carl recovers from his injury, Rick is bound and determined to not let something like this happen again. With nearly everyone on board to get this colony safe again, a small group is trying to rebel against Rick and his crew but they soon learn that it won't ever happen. As everyone heals from the herd, a new need to find food is upon them and what they find outside the gates will send shock-waves through out the colony.

As everyone has kinda figured out by now, that once we get a calm comic like this one, a more intense one is on the way!  It was interesting to see how everyone coped after the zombie herd breaking the walls and it makes me excited for what is to come because I know that it's gonna get good after this book. At the same time though, it's gonna be weird reading what is to come before the new season hits the airwaves but I can bet that it's gonna be good!

No Way Out is issues 79-84 of the popular The Walking Dead comics! As everyone deals with the attacks from both inside and outside the colony, not everyone inside is happy that Rick is put in charge. With a herd of walkers surrounding the walls in which some start to fall due to all the weight and poor building skills, it will test everyone's limit and skills. As the walls fall and walkers come inside the colony, it will force Rick to take a stand after a horrible accident with Carl to take back the town!

Ever since I started reading these comics, I have been curious to see if Carl's accident is like the show and it's so similar that you think you are watching the show while reading what is going on!! As I get myself closer to where the show left off, it's kinda crazy how everything is matching up more closer than when the comics first started out. I'm about the halfway through these comics and it's gonna be a sad day when I get to the last one out but at the same time also kinda happy knowing what is to come!

Thank You to Robert Kirkman for writing a fantastic series that will keep you up at night just to see what is to come!!

Too Far Gone is issues 73-78 of the popular The Walking Dead comics! As the group gets settled into Alexandria and as they explore their new home, nothing about this place is what they think it is. After Rick discovers that one of the residents is being abuse, Rick takes it upon himself to deal with it but it comes with some setbacks that will ultimately put Rick in control by the end of the book. Also while on a supply run, Glenn and another member of the new group, unexpectedly brings a group of evil men to the front door of the colony which all makes them weary of what is out there.

This has to be one of my favorite comics to date, it's nearly exactly what happened on the show but better! The whole scene of Glenn and the other guy unknowingly bringing bad trouble to the town was perfect in the sense that it showed everyone living in the colony that they really are not that safe which was what Rick was telling them from the beginning. I can only imagine what is to come but if it's like the show, it's gonna be good!

Thank You to Robert Kirkman for having this comic played out on the show like it was without changing too much!!

Life Among Them is issues 67-72 of the popular The Walking Dead comics! After Rick and crew discover that a man named Aaron has been following them but only to lead them to a new compound called Alexandria. Once there, they are a little skeptical of everything especially with what just went down with the Governor and Woodbury. As they get job assignments, Rick comes up with a plan to help his group out in a big way without nobody else knowing about it.

I found this volume to be kinda low key with them finding Alexandria and everything that comes with it but you know that something big is about to happen especially with Rick and Glen doing something that will hopefully save them. As I read this book, I found many similar situations as the show but on a whole new level. I do have to admit, I already know what happens in the next issue but for what's it's worth, it was a great build up to what is to come for everyone in Alexandria.

Thank You to Robert Kirkman for keeping the show as nearly the same as the comics to make everything seem more real!!

Fear The Hunters is issues 61-66 of the popular The Walking Dead comics! We start out learning what one of the twins is up to and it leads to a shocking night that no one will admit to it. With everyone under stress and a stranger in the form of a preacher who offers a church as a safe haven but it's not as safe as they think. A group of people called the Hunters are stalking the group until they see an opportunity to take Dale in which he is hiding a major secret from everyone. When they realize that Dale is missing and showing up again with a missing leg, the battle between the group and the Hunters is on. It all leads to a shocking twist of fate on the last page that will leave you wanting more!

I was wandering how the whole cannibal eating people from Terminus was gonna be involved in the comics and it didn't disappoint at all! This was a definite action packed comic from the first few pages to the major secret on the last page, it's something that you have to read rather than watch on the show to better understand the whole series. I can't wait to get into the next volume and I know that worse people are just on the horizon now, waiting for the group to arrive.

Thank You to Robert Kirkman for reaffirming my love in The Walking Dead with this volume!

What We Become is issues 55-60 of the popular The Walking Dead comics! While on the run, Rick realizes that they are close to his hometown and his former police station workplace. So Rick, Carl & Abraham go to town to find more supplies but encounter a group of evil men along the way. Once they get past the guys and into the town, Rick gets a rude welcome from a old friend in the form of Morgan. After the load up the car with supplies and on the road back to the group, they encounter a herd of walkers that is headed straight for the group and everyone on the run yet again.

I so love how the comics are so different from the show but yet have the element from the comics that once you read the comics, you understand more about how the scene on the series came to be! It might be a quick read or at lest for me it is but I loved every single scene and how it fits in with the show. Here We Remain is issues 49-54 of the popular The Walking Dead comics! Rick and Carl are left to fend for themselves after what went down at the prison, not knowing if anyone else is still alive. As they find a house to recover in, Rick gets very sick to the point that Carl thinks he is about to turn. When Michonne shows up, they decide to go back to Hershel's farm in which they find a huge surprise waiting for them but the journey doesn't end there as they all leave to find a much safer haven wherever that maybe now.

I really loved the scenes with Carl coming into his own just trying to figure stuff out at such a young age in this new scary world. Made To Suffer is issues 43-48 of the popular The Walking Dead comics! The epic showdown between the Governor and the prison is finally here and nothing will ever be the same for Rick and the crew. After Michonne nearly kills the Governor, the Governor has fire in his eyes for the prison and vows to leave nobody standing. With some members of the crew leaving at a critical time to only return to help Rick and everyone else who stayed fight, we are left with a broken crew with Rick telling Carl to not look back at the prison.

This volume had me on edge wondering how it's all gonna play out and I have to admit that at one point had me in tears for what had happened. With the prison in the past, I'm looking forward to what is next for this broken crew that doesn't seem to get any breaks at all but at the same time, that is what makes it so great as well! Reading this series while waiting for October for the show to come back on is kinda perfect in the sense that I can catch up on everything and not have total Walking Dead withdrawls!!

ABOUT THE BOOK!

In the vein of Meg Donohue and Sarah Jio, Cecilia Galante’s second novel delivers the powerful story of one young woman who’s faced with an impossible choice—one that could have her making the biggest mistake of her life.

Thirteen days. That’s all Bernadette, “Bird,” Sincavage has left to go until she’s done with her probation and can be free again. Free from making payments to the supermarket she wrote bad checks to. Free from living at home with her overzealous mother who’s constantly nagging her about attending church again. Free to give her four-year-old son, Angus, the normal life he deserves. Her impending freedom and move to Moon Lake, where she’s plunked down a deposit on a brand new apartment, is so close she can almost taste it. What trouble could she possibly get into in just 13 days?

But trouble does follow in the form of James Rittenhouse—someone she worked with a few years ago. At first, Bird is stunned to see James make the evening news when he’s arrested for assaulting someone in a local bar. But that’s nothing compared to the shock she gets when she discovers James hiding out in an abandoned church choir loft. Somehow he escaped police custody, broke his leg, and got his hand on a gun, which he’s now pointing at her.

Although Bird doesn’t tell anyone she saw James, there’s no way she’s helping him. She can’t screw up her probation or her second chance for a new future. And she has her son’s welfare to think about. Still. If only she could stop thinking about the terrified look in James’ eyes and the fact that he’s hurt. If only she could forget that once, long ago, James helped her out, and she owes him a debt like no other.

Will Bird jeopardize her future for someone who helped her out in the past? A past that holds secrets she’s not quite sure she’s ready to face? Or will she turn a blind eye and learn to live with the consequences?

The Lullaby Sky by Carolyn Brown

Message from Carolyn Brown

Good mornin’, all y’all! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to listen to me talk about The Lullaby Sky. I’m so excited about this book and hope that it touches the emotions of every woman who reads it. Hannah has found joy in giving back to others and has a brand new and budding relationship with Travis.

I asked her to give us some advice about second chance love. This is what she had to say:

I’ve known Travis my whole life and down deep in my heart I knew he was a good person, had a heart of gold and was a wonderful man. But after what I’d lived through the past several years, trust was a major issue. I had to learn to trust my heart again, to open it up and give Travis a chance.

So I had a long talk with myself and decided that it was not fair to judge this good man, by another man’s short comings. It was time to let go of the past and move on to the future. Then I rememberd something that my grandmother used to tell me and applied it to my life: Never shut the door to an opportunity. It’s better to open the door, invite it in and feed it chocolate cake than to chase it down the road after it’s already a mile away.

If you’ve been blessed with a second chance, if opportunity comes knocking on your door and there’s a hero standing there with paint on his shirt, a quirky little smile and a twinkle in his eyes, just open the door wide and tell him to come right on it. Feed him chocolate cake and give him a chance. You never know, the second chance might be the stars that light up a lullaby sky.

Hannah had paid for her marriage to Marty in nerves, nausea and migraines. She wrapped her arms around her body and shivered--never would she have to worry about him arriving unexpected and finding things out of order. Never would she have to send Sophie outside to play so she wouldn’t witness his wicked temper.

“It really is over,” she whispered. “So why don’t I feel like it is?”

“Because it’ll take time,” Travis whispered.

Startled, she jumped and shivered. “I’m sorry. I didn’t hear you come out of the house.”

“It’s okay, Hannah. You never have to apologize to me.” He smiled.

The limo came to a slow stop in front of the house and Sophie shot out of the door and jumped into her mother’s arm for the second, or was it the third time that day? She wrapped her legs around Hannah’s waist and hugged her, planting dozens of kisses on her face.

“I liked the ‘tentious car, Mama, but it’s too big for us. I like our car and Travis’s truck and Aunt Birdie’s van better than the big princess car.” She leaned back and looked Hannah right in the eye. “Did I really get a new name today or was you teasin’ me?"

“You really did. So did I. We are now Hannah and Sophie O’Malley,” Hannah answered.

“Sophie O’Malley,” Sophie whispered. “I like it. Do you like it, Travis?"

“Oh, yes, I do. It sounds just like a princess name.”

“Sophie O’Malley, princess of Aunt Birdie’s castle and queen of Hannah O’Malley’s house.” Sophie’s pecan-colored eyes danced with merriment.

“Oh, no, you don’t, young lady,” Hannah said. “You might be princess of Aunt Birdie’s house and mine, but I’m the queen and don’t you forget it.”

Sophie hopped down and ran into the house, no doubt to tell Aunt Birdie all about the limo. Travis kept his distance but his eyes locked with Hannah’s.

“What?” She wiped her cheek. “Do I have chocolate pie on my face?”

“No, I was thinkin’ maybe you shouldn’t forget it,” Travis said.

“Forget what?”

“Who’s queen of your house,” he said.

“Are you saying that I spoil Sophie too much?” Hannah asked.

“No, I’m saying that you’ve been spoiled too little, Hannah O’Malley,” he grinned.
