The Frog Prince is a classic retelling of this story with a copy of the original included. Long ago in a magical kingdom, the Prince Gerit begs a woman to help him out of the water with making promises to her that he takes back after getting free. The woman being a witch, turns him into a frog for doing that to teach him a lesson and tells him the only way to become human again is to kiss a Princess 3 times on the lips. As he adjusts to being a frog, he sets out to find a Princess but once he gets there, the Princess doesn't want anything to do with him being that he is a frog.

With Gerit at a standstill of what to do, he forces the princess to do what he wants to do. With the both of them spending time with each other, they soon come to love each other's company. It takes the Princess of learning that she is forced to marry someone that she doesn't like to make things right with Gerit.

This was a quick read for me but I loved it! I so enjoyed this story rather than the original just due to the simple fact that this story is much more drawn out and more details than what was originally told. This could be a great book for kids to teach them to not make promises that they can't keep or anyone who loves classic retelling's of folktales!!

Thank You to Mike Klaassen for writing a great story in this new collection of yours and I so can't wait to see what is to come next!!

Deja You is a collection of five stories with themes of second chances. Kelly Cain's story is set in the 1980's, with a summer romance between a recent high school graduate and a Navy sailor. Bianca M. Schwarz's story takes us to 1760, revolves around a man who attends a card party and leaves with more than he bargained for. Amanda Linsmeier's story deals with two lovers who met up again after death. Jamie McLachlan's story deals with a blind woman and a new gardener that knows more than he lets on in the beginning. Lastly in C.H. Armstrong's story takes us between the past and the present for two people who let age and tragedy tear them apart to only get their second chance at love.

I'm not too big on reading books with multiple Authors but due to the simple fact that I already love Amanda Linsmeier's and C.H. Armstrong's books, I had to read this collection. For what this collection holds, it made me become a fan of Kelly Cain and Jamie McLachlan's work, Bianca's story just wasn't my kind of story and sadly didn't finish it but it was well written to say the lest. It was everything that you want in a collection that brings you stories of second chances in a way that you can read the entire thing in one sitting or just skip around to the stories you want to read without it being a total waste of time if you didn't like one story. I loved the fact that each story was set in a different time with different situations that make this book unique from all the other collections out there!!

Thank You to Kelly Cain, Bianca M. Schwarz, Amanda Linsmeier, Jamie McLachlan & C.H. Armstrong for coming together to put this collection of stories out there!

In Déjà You, five authors share stories of second chances, as varied in telling as the writers themselves.

Kelly Cain’s We’ll Always Have Oahu takes us on a whirlwind New Adult romance set in the 80s between a young woman on a high school graduation trip and a handsome Navy sailor.

Bianca M. Schwarz transports us to 1760 in The Pearl with the story of Marcus Landover, who attends a card party and ends up with more than he bargained for in the beautiful Sophia Chelmsford.

Amanda Linsmeier’s Joy and Sorrow reunites lovers separated by death in a Women’s Fiction tinged with the unusual.

The Eyes of the Heart by Jamie McLachlan gives us Rosalina, who is forced to confront her attraction and the truth about her blindness when a new gardener is hired at the Greystone house.

Finally, C.H. Armstrong brings us Mr. Midnight, where tragedy reunites two star-crossed lovers, but misunderstandings soon rip them apart. Now, six years later, the stars are realigning with the help of the smooth voice of a late night radio DJ.

Some of the stories are sweet, some sad, some steamy, but all carry the same theme. Déjà You is a collection of stories for those who believe in love, but most of all, second chances.

The Birth of Déjà You

About two years ago, a group of five novice writers signed with the same small publisher, each inexperienced in the publishing world yet committed to understanding the process and finding success. Through their mutual dive into unchartered territory, Amanda Linsmeier, Bianca M. Schwarz, C.H. Armstrong, Kelly Cain, and Jamie McLachlan reached out to one another and became instant friends, sharing laughs, tears, and the struggles of life and writing. We soon dubbed ourselves "Book Besties." During the fall of 2016, we decided to write a book of short stories together. As friends, we wanted to combine our talents to create a collection that would inspire hope and happiness. After much deliberation, we chose the theme "Second Chances" and decided to title this anthology, "Déjà You." Though each story contains the same theme, they all are as unique as the author who wrote it. Including New Adult, Women’s Fiction, Fantasy, Historical, and Contemporary Romance, each short offers a different take on the theme and involves varying heat levels, from sweet to steamy.

Hansel And Gretel is a classic retelling of this popular folktale with the original story included as well. When a famine rules the land and everyone starving, a family takes matters into their own hands when they abandon their ten year old Hansel and his little sister, Gretel in the woods. With Hansel smarter than his parents, he leaves a trail of pebbles to lead them home again to only have his parents take them deeper in the woods with no chance of ever making it home again.

As Hansel and Gretel deal with their new reality, a white bird leads them to a house that will change everything for them. With an evil witch named Petra who wants to fatten up Hansel to eat and Gretel as her slave, Hansel does what he has to in order to save his sister from Petra. As Hansel kills Petra by pushing her in the oven, the kids soon discover that an evil is never far from where they are.

I really enjoyed reading this book and with it having the original story included, it makes it an even more perfect read. I liked how the retelling went a different way from the original but I have to admit that the original's ending was far more perfect for this story instead of how the retelling had it end but that is what makes this a great book to read that you can get both stories and compare them after reading the entire book! After reading this book, I'm so curious to what other stories he is gonna remake and I can't wait to see what they will be!

Thank You to Mike Klaassen for writing one of the best retelling's to a classic that I have read in a long time!!

Being A Captain Is Hard Work follows Captain No Beard and his new adventure on the seas! It was a great day according to the Captain, everyone was doing their job but when his crew members start pointing out things that they shouldn't do, due to the impending weather, the Captain ignores them. It takes his youngest crew member to get stuck on the pole due to him not wanting to let the flag go, for the Captain to realize what he did wrong and a lesson that he doesn't have to do everything by himself. In the end, they all come together again and work in a way that everyone gets to be listened to.

I thought that this was a excellent book that teaches kids that if you all work together instead of doing things your own way, then it would be smooth sailing instead of a big mess to clean up. The Illustration's in this book are so good that I really loved them and thought they were really good in portraying what was going on in the book! The guide in the back of the book of which clouds are what, was a really good idea to put in this book due to the story-line!!

Can A Princess Be A Firefighter is a cute little story of two little girls who question if they can still be a firefighter while being a princess! While playing dress up one day, these two young girls ask their parent if they can be something other than a princess and the parent tells them they can do anything as long as they are happy doing their job! With the girls satisfied with that, the parent reminds them that they will always be a little princess to them.

I really liked this book that shows young girls that they can be anything they desire just as long as they love doing what they love. The Illustrations in this book are a little different from what I'm used to but I like it. I truly believe that there needs to be more books like this that show kids that they can do anything they dream of and not have a label assigned to them of what everyone thinks they should be.

Thank You to Carole P. Roman for having a book like this to show young girls that they can be anything they dream of.

Navigating Life is a guide to help navigate life choices from a mother to her oldest daughter. Margaux wrote this book in order to help her oldest daughter make choices in her life, that her own mother failed to do for her. With honest thoughts on what got Margaux through some of her best and hard times, it serves as a guide for young people to help avoid some of her mistakes while learning how to navigate life on their own.

I found this book to be more honest than anything what you find nowadays on the shelf on what you need to learn in order to be successful at life. I did find it being more personal for Margaux's kids than giving information out for everyone but that also made this book more unique in the sense that you don't see that often. If you want a short read that will leave you admiring what this woman been through while giving out life advise, read this book and you won't regret it!!

Drop In is a book that gives you help in order to have a deeper presence in your life. In a world where social media and technology rule, people are left unable to focus and be in the present but this book explains that there is a way to be more present in a way that will leave you reaching for the calm instead of a phone. With it full of tools to help you get started to live a calmer life, this book will be your saving grace against this crazy world we live in.

I found this book to be so true on so many levels, it's kinda scary. The thing that got to me the most was the part that you could put people in a room without anything and they wouldn't know what to do or stay there for longer than 15 minutes without some sort of technology because they don't want to be alone in their thoughts, have we relied on technology too much to want to be alone with yourself? Overall, this was a good book that I hope will help people regain their presence knowing that being alone with your thoughts might be the best thing ever!

Thank You to Sara Harvey Yao for writing this book that I hope will get everyone a much calmer attitude toward your own well-being!

Sweet Southern Hearts is the third and final book in the Willow Hill series! Linny Taylor has had bad luck with men until marriage number 3 with Jack Avery but having a new step-son and family issues with her mother and sister is making newlywed life just a little bit harder to contend with. With Linny and Jack on their honeymoon, a call will bring them back home unexpectedly due to Jack's son not wanting to be around his mother or step-dad with all their fighting.

While dealing with a new step-son who is resisting changes, a week long RV trip that Linny's mother, Dottie begs her to join will bring more trouble than what Linny was asking for. As she gets back home, nothing goes right but a unexpected surprise will bring everyone together in ways they never imagined in a bitter-sweet ending for Linny!

I have to admit that I had to start and stop this book about two times before I could fully get into the story-line but once you get into it, you will love what the story is about and it will make you want to go back and read the other two books in this series. I was a bit confused when someone else was mentioned in the story and I think if I was to read the other two books, it will make sense on what had happened to make this book possible. Overall, it was a good book with the most perfect ending to any story like this that so makes you wish that a movie based on these books was coming soon just to see it played out on the big screen!!

Thank You to Susan Schild for making me a fan of yours with this one book!!

Say Goodbye For Now is the story of how unsuspecting people come together in a unforgiving time. It's 1959 in Texas, Dr Lucy lives on a insulated Ranch taking care of abandoned animals until a young boy named Pete shows up with a injured wolf-dog hybrid. As they get to know each other, a young black boy by the name of Justin who Pete has befriended gets badly hurt by a group of men.

As Justin recovers at Lucy's house with his father, Calvin and Pete close by. A little romance between Calvin and Lucy makes them open up to what their world might be like after another incident with Calvin that forces them apart for awhile. As Pete deals with his abusive father who has a very ugly secret that will force Pete to realize who his true family is. With Calvin and Justin having to leave town before anything bad happens to anyone else, it will take something major to happen before they all can find their happy ending and where they truly belong!

This book was amazing with they way that this story just grabs you and won't let go until you have it finished at 1:00 in the morning! I was a little hesitant to read another book by Catherine since the last book I read by her (Ask Him Why) wasn't all that great for me but this book makes up for that and definitely makes me curious about some of her other books now! Just reading this book about what happens to everyone involved is just one reason that we need to be more tolerant of each other now matter what color of our skin is to who we vote for without going back to a time like this book.

Thank You to Catherine Ryan Hyde for writing a book that made me curious about your other books and wondering what is to come in the future!!

I don't want to hate this book but I'm just not into this new age ideas. I do have to admit that the way this book was writing like a diary made it a little bit easier to read and you get what Jennifer is going through on her journey. I do have to say that what Jennifer experienced is kinda awesome for her journey in this life and being able to write it all down is helpful for others who are into this new age lifestyle.

As she discovers that she can communicate with her dead brother, she struggles with her spiritual awakening and what it truly means. As she learns more and how she is transforming to this new way of thinking, she finds her true self that hidden with herself!

I'm so torn about this book from liking it to just not feeling anything about it. I'm not into this New Age stuff at all but I do believe in life after death but just not in the way that Rebecca experiences it. This was a eye opener book for me and even though I wasn't into some of the things, I could see how a book like this could help someone to find their inner being!

Thank You to Rebecca Austill-Clausen for sharing your journey to find your inner self after losing your brother.

This is their story on how they were able to overcome a long-distance relationship to finally having one of them making that move to overseas to further their relationship in a ending that was made for soul mates!

This was a good memoir that makes you think about how one person that you meet on the street could become your soul mate, it's truly the perfect love story. You could feel the emotions from Roni Beth from the time she meet David to where their future was headed. Stepmother is the story of a woman who tells what it really means to be a Stepmother. Marianne Lile fell in love and married a man with two kids from a previous marriage, to come home from her honeymoon to a new title of stepmom. As she deals with issues with her two new kids and having a baby shortly after getting married, she soon discovers what it truly means to be a step-parent.

In my mind, it takes guts to be willing to be step-parent and it can either be meet with good results or ending horribly for everyone involved. I get Marianne's story because I have a stepdad who was willing to step up and take the place of a father figure in my life. I also know like in Marianne's case that it's not all peachy in the beginning but it can turn into something great if everyone if willing to give it a shot.  This book needs to be read by anyone who is or gonna be a step-parent to fully get them to understand that not everything is gonna go as planned or in my case, be the best thing to ever happen to a child.

Thank You to Marianne Lile for sharing your story of what the title of step-parent really means!

Body 2.0 is the real story of Krista's journey to have a double mastectomy and the choice that made her get that in the first place. As Krista writes this book like a diary of how her mother died of breast cancer that made her want to remove her own breasts and the process of having the surgery actually felt like for her. With Krista sharing everything about the journey, she discovers how strong she truly is during her darkest times and what it really means to be a survivor!

This book really hit home for me since my own mom went through a double mastectomy close to 20 years ago but unlike Krista, she didn't have the reconstruction done. When they took my mom's breasts they discovered cancer cells starting to grow so it was done in the nick of time and I think every woman who chooses to have this surgery before something does pop up after having family with cancer or issues with benign tumors, may just saved their own life. Reading Krista's story will make you sad at times but also have you laugh out loud for what is going on but the bigger picture is that it takes a real woman to have something like this done for them to come out on the other side much stronger than before!

Thank You to Krista Hammerbacher Haapala for sharing your story so that someone who is facing the same journey can know that they are not alone in this fight!

Pieces Of Me is the story of a woman who had to go rescue her kidnapped daughters from her estranged ex-husband. Lizbeth Meredith grew up in a bad home and once grown, she thought she was marrying the right man but soon discovered that was far from what she ever wished for. In 1994, she said good-bye to her four and six year old daughters when they left for a weekend with their father only to have them be kidnapped by her ex and taken to Greece. It takes nearly two years for Lizbeth to get her daughters back to the states with lessons learned and discovering what it truly means to be a family once again.

This book is amazing in the sense of what Lizbeth had to go through during her childhood and the fight to get her girls back. I read this book in two days and when I wasn't reading it, it had me thinking about the theme of this book and why are the laws so loose when a parent takes their own child. In my mind, if you break a custody agreement and take the child or children outside the country, you should be made into a outlaw and be brought to justice instead of what Lizbeth had to go through. It was interesting to see in the end, how all three of them coped when everything was over with and how the girls adjusted to being back home.

Thank You to Lizbeth Meredith for sharing your story!!

Naked Mountain is the story of how buying a mountain changed a woman's life! Purchased on a whim by a suburban couple, Marcia and her husband Tim who wanted a place to escape their city life. As they learn and explore their very own mountain, it takes a unexpected turn when Marcia discovers she has cancer. With Marcia having to fend for herself after everything bad that happens, it makes her realize where she needs to be in order to fully recover and only then will she find true happiness.

This book will have you laughing at some parts and down right crying at other parts for what Marcia and Tim went through with their cancer battles. I loved how everything revolved around a mountain that brought a couple together and it ended up being a place that Marcia was able to escape to when her world crashed around her but it was also a place for new beginnings as well. This is the perfect book for any cancer fight, survivor or just someone who needs to read a book that says that anything is possible if you believe in it.

Thank You to Marcia Mabee for sharing your story and for able to say, you are a true survivor!!

The Sportscaster's Daughter is the story of forgiveness & strength from a family that wants nothing to do with you. Cindi Michael was the middle child of three kids, of the famed sportscaster George Michael. When Cindi was around eleven years old, her family was torn apart with her father fighting for custody of all three kids. As time went on, Cindi had to fight to be included in the family until several decisions that she made, that lead to her been excluded from the family. It takes a failed marriage, finding her one true love and the death of her father to make Cindi realize where she truly stands in her messed up family.

All I can say is wow, I'm still in shock after reading this book of how badly Cindi was treated by her own family but I can also sadly related to what she went through as well. I know this book is just Cindi's point of view but you can't help but to think what truly went on behind the scenes that maybe Cindi doesn't know to get her excluded from the family. I do have to say that Cindi is a brave person for wanting to keep in contact even when everyone is telling her to get lost and being able to find her one true love in the mist of everything.

Thank You to Cindi Michael for sharing your story so somebody else can understand that they are not alone with dealing with families like yours!
