Dear Carolina is the story of two women going through their own journey but coming together as a family. Frances aka Khaki has everything, a loving husband named Graham, a son from her first marriage and a thriving designer business but with her not able to get pregnant, having a baby would make everything complete for her. Jodi is the nineteen year old cousin to Graham who is a recovering alcoholic and pregnant with a baby that the dad is long gone.
When Jodi goes to Khaki to get money for a abortion, Khaki convinces her to not go through with it. Shortly after the baby is born which is called Carolina, a night of storms and a ex-boyfriend will make Jodi want to give the baby to Khaki and Graham to adopt just to make the baby have a better life. As the entire family deals with this new revelation and even a bigger surprise with Khaki, they all realize that family isn't who you are born to but to everyone who truly loves and cares for you.
I truly loved this book, this book is everything I love about Southern Authors who can make you feel like you are in the South with them experiencing the story as it goes! The way the book went between Jodi & Khaki's point of view was great in the sense you understood what they were going through at the time. I can say that I'm a fan of Kristy's now and I can't wait to read the next book that is coming out soon!!
Thank You to Kristy Woodson Harvey for writing such a fantastic debut novel that will leave you wanting more!
I borrowed this book from my local Public Library!
