The Someday Birds is the story of how one trip across the USA will bring a family back together. Charlie wishes everything can be clean and predictable but ever since his war journalist father was injured over in Afghanistan, nothing is what it seems back home. The only thing normal is a wishlist that Charlie and his dad made for birds they want to see someday. It takes a trip across the USA with his older boy-crazy sister, twins brothers and a new family friend, for Charlie to realize that family is everything while discovering how strong he truly is.
When you read the title of this book and you think is this book just about birds but you soon realize that it's so much more than birds. It has that element of a dysfunctional family and a young boy trying to find his way in this world, that makes this book great for all age groups. I have to admit though, there were some parts that was slow to get through but it does keep your attention on the story. The way it ended though, was perfect for what this story was saying!!
Thank You to Sally J. Pla for writing a good debut novel that will keep people coming back for more!!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from the Publisher!
