ABOUT THE BOOK!

Savvy law student Sarah Wasser returns to her apartment to find two telephone messages:  She has not been chosen for a coveted summer internship, and her best friend from high school has just murdered her two children.  Unwilling to admit the internship failure to family and friends, the quick thinking Sarah secures a position on JoBeth’s defense team and returns to her sleepy hometown in South Carolina.

But Sarah is not well-prepared for working in a community rife with duplicity and betrayal, and her efforts are met with the benevolent amusement of the senior law partner, the resentment of the trial attorney, the rush to judgement by the folks of Eight Mile Junction, and discovery of her father’s role in the degradation of JoBeth.

The Clue In The Papyrus Scroll is the second book in the Great Adventures series! After arriving in Egypt, they soon realize that the agent is missing but a puzzle will guide them to the next spot. While taking in the sites and escaping danger once again, the kids are off to Nairobi, Stonehenge and Rome while giving back stolen artifacts and the mystery of why other people are trying to hinder their quest.

Wow is all I'm gonna say about this book! I so don't want to give much away about this book but it's the most action filled, mystery riddled book in this series to date! This book covered more ground than the first book in this series and there is still 3 more books to come! The more you get into this story, the more you want to know more about why is the bad guys after the artifacts and if the Boxcar children will succeed in the end! Some people may think this series is boring but to someone like myself who grew up on the Boxcar Kids, it's the most perfect way to get the series more up to date without it being boring.

Thank You to Gertrude Chandler Warner for making me fall in more in love with a series that rocked my world as a kid!!

Summer By The Sea is the tale of two sisters coming together to spend one last summer with their grandmother. Faith and her family are returning to the cottage that once was destroyed during a storm, to help celebrate her Nan's 90th birthday. Faith and her sister, Casey have not really talked to each other ever since Casey stole Scott from Faith when they were teenagers.

When they all show up at the brand new cottage, Jake the handyman is there and Faith takes a instant liking to him. Casey who is dealing with marriage issues with Scott is also flirting with Jake which brings Faith right back to her being a teenager. After a fight with Casey about Jake, the two girls make up and Faith helps Casey and Scott regain what they had losted. The issue of Jake and what he does for a living doesn't really sit well with Faith until a trip with him, makes her realize that she is hopelessly in love with Jake, no matter what the cost is.

When Jake & Nan surprises the family with a gift that will keep everyone together for years to come, everything comes full circle in the bittersweet ending that will make you shed a tear for this healed family.

I really loved this book, the setting just made it perfect. Everything in this book just flowed together like it should without being to awkward dealing with everyone's issues. When Jenny described sitting on the porch watching the sea, I so wished I could be there doing that same thing and this book would make for a excellent movie. This is the first book I ever read by Jenny Hale and I can tell you, it's not gonna be my last.

Thank You to Jenny Hale for writing a book that speaks to my soul and I can't wait to read more books by you!!

To Selena, With Love is Chris Perez's story of a woman who he loved dearly and is giving everyone a behind the scenes look at their love story. Selena was a multi-platinum Mexican singer who was on the brink of crossing over into main stream America when everything came crashing down on that fateful March day. We are getting a more intimate look inside their relationship that almost didn't survive due to her family and her hectic schedule and what their plans were for the future that would never happen.

I had this book read in two days and I loved every minute of it! Growing up in West Texas and especially living down by the border, Selena was on the radio all the time! The day she died, even though I was only 10 at the time, I knew the world just lost a legend. The way Chris tells this story, it will make your heart break for him for losing his one true love and it makes you wonder what would happened if Selena survived that day.

Thank You to Chris Perez for sharing your love story with Selena for the fans who truly loved her even to this day!

Krysia is the memoir of a young girl's family during the invasion of Poland during WW2. Krystyna or Krysia Mihulka who is now in her 80's, tells of her journey when she was nine years old during the German and Russian invasion of Poland. Krysia paints the picture of deportation, hiding under cover and finally being deported for two years with her mother and younger brother to a  Soviet farm in Kazakhstan until freedom was won.

This memoir was a powerful read and I would have have had this book read in a night if I didn't have to get up so early the next day, yes it's that good! Reading books like this gives you a better understanding of what really happened to certain people in certain countries that history books don't show at all. Even now, I'm still thinking about everything that Krysia and her family went through during that time and you can only pray that nothing like that would ever happen again.

Thank You to Krystyna Mihulka for sharing your story with the world so people can have a better understanding of what really happened!

Devotion is the true story of Lieutenant Tom Hudner, a white New Englander who was part of the country club scene and Ensign Jesse Brown, a black sharecropper's son from Mississippi. They may have been worlds apart but they were good friends in a time that was frowned upon. During the Korean War, they flow in several missions risking their lives only to have one mission that would change their life and all those who loved them forever.

The book also follows other co-workers and Marines that were part of the Korean War and blended them all so well that it made the book what it is, it's not just Tom & Jesse's story but all the ones that they had a hand in their short career together.

I like reading about history just to get a sense if we are not careful, we could very well be repeating what happened in the last 100 years. I had family members being in the military during that time and I could only imagine what they went through and this book brought a whole new understanding of what this war was like for them.

Thank You to Adam Makos for telling Tom Hudner's and Jesse Brown's story and all those who served during the Korean War.

This book is about Buster and his handler RAF Police Sergeant Will Barrow. Buster is one of many dogs that are serving in the military and this is his story of his journey throughout the war and how he served 5 tours of duty in three different countries (Bosnia, Iraq & Afghanistan) and how he became the official mascot of the RAF Police.

This is a fast paced book but it's great in the sense that it brings light to all the dogs that served in the armed forces that you never really hear about. I believe all dogs like Buster should have the highest honor for their service just because of the fact that one dog can save countless soldiers and they don't get the recognition they deserve.

Thank You to Will Barrow for serving in the RAF and for telling yours and Buster's story!

If you need a book that will make you smile and give you a recipe for the drink that kinda goes with the story, then this is the book for you!!

I like this book but felt it was way too quick of a read and would love to see more of Vicki's short stories in the future! I liked how each story ended with a recipe for some kind of drink, you never see that in other books and thought that was a wonderful idea for this kind of book! I never read any of her other books but now I'm gonna have to find a way to read them, if they are hilarious like this book then i'm sure to love those too!!

I love to read books that the Robertson's put out and this one ranks high on my list by them. This book had me laughing out loud at certain points of the book, it's a very good book that I think could be up there with the Lena and Ole books, if you know what I mean! Rise is the story of how a woman overcame obstacles in order to build her dream home for her and her kids! After escaping a third and abusive marriage, Cara Brookins is desperate to provide a home for her four kids but doesn't have the means to buy one. It takes a trip for Cara to come up with a plan to build their own home with only the help of YouTube, a small bank loan and her kids as a work crew. As they build the house, they learn they are tougher than what tried to break them in the perfect ending for anyone who wants to just do better for themselves and their children!

This was a very good book that goes to show that if you make your mind up, you can do anything that is possible! My only problem with this book was the fact that it kept going from earlier years to present day without warning which gets confusing after awhile. Other than that, it was a good book that makes you think about how she was able to overcome horrible marriages to finding a place that she can be herself without having to look over her shoulder all the time!

Thank You to Cara Brookins for telling your story so that maybe someone will read this and get the courage to do the same as you did in overcoming a tragic past!

I Remember The Time is the story of how a man overcame many obstacles in his life to be the man he is today! At 3 years old, Kim Hemphill was in a serious train accident that left his face scarred and a look at how his life was gonna be. As Kim deals with a abusive father, a brother who died in the Vietnam War, a mother who was always sick, it made Kim want to be something more than how he grew up as. With the obstacles he had to deal with over his lifetime, he can finally say that he broke a chain that most people succumb to.

I really enjoyed reading this book for what Kim had to go through in his life and to see that he made it to a point that most people never get to, coming from his experiences. You can feel the emotions that Kim was going through with his father and losing his brother at a young age. The point of when I truly fell in love with this story was when his ex-wife told him that he would never be able to pass a test and not only did he succeed, but showed her what he was truly made of! I'm happy that he finally found his happy ending that he truly deserves!

Thank You to Kim Hemphill for sharing your story that maybe will give someone the courage coming from the same background that anything is possible if you put your mind to it!!

A New Way To Dinner is the newest book by Food52 and a new way to maximize your time in the kitchen! With using a few ingredients that can be used in multiple uses throughout the busy workweek and a menu that is divided up into seasons, this is definitely a cookbook you can use throughout the year! Easy to read recipes with fresh ingredients for that time of year, this is most certainly a new way to dinner!!

My only problem with this book is which ingredients were used for a certain time of year, I live in the middle of nowhere and I don't have access to some of the ingredients but I can see where I can improvise certain stuff to get the dish kinda like the book. I do have to admit that most of these dishes are easy to work with and I could see where that can come in handy when you are busy and don't want to cook very long especially in the hot summer time in Texas. I really like what Food52 does and they have become my favorite cookbooks to get recipes from and I really hope that they don't quit making cookbooks for a long time!!

Thank You to Food52 for showing me a new way to dinner that will most certainly come in handy!!

Regress is the story of what it's like living under a government called the New Order that is banning creatives and one girl's journey to stop it. Tru Shepard is on the brink of turning seventeen, an age where the New Order gives everyone a shot that makes all creatives lose their gift even though they claim it's to make everyone safe from sickness. The New Order doesn't like creatives due to their nature of standing up to them but as Tru discovers that the shot is more than what they say it's for.

Tru is an average sixteen year old living with her parents, her brother and high wife in a little apartment in New Detroit when ten days before she turns seventeen, things start unraveling with her family. As she is coming home late from her best friends house one night and nearly getting caught by the police due to the curfew in place, she runs into Zared, a boy from her past, that explains to her that not everything is what it seems in the world. As people go missing and get killed trying to find out what is really going on, Tru discovers secrets about her family that put everyone in danger.

When Tru's Mother gets taken by the government, Tru even though she doesn't know if she can trust Zared fully just yet, they end up on the run together trying to figure everything out. As more secrets about who Zared is working for and what her best friend is, makes Tru want even more answers about everything. It all leads up to an explosive ending that will make you wish that the next book was out soon!

I really liked this book due to the action and story-line but I also felt some of the characters could have used some more backstory to them. The ending to this book will make you wish that the next book was already out so you will find out what happens to Tru! I could see this book and series make for a great movie series, yes it's that good of a book. When I first found out about this book, I kinda thought it would be just like the Divergent series but it's so much better in the way the story is told!

Thank You to SF Benson for making me a reader of your books and I can't wait to read the next book in this fabulous series!!
