In Paisley Memories, Tess Cooper is a single mother of a Down Syndrome baby girl who is trying to find her way in this world. Tess became a teenage mother at 17 and lost her father at 19 and when foster care tried to take Paisley from her, she gets in her father's beat up old car and they hit the road until one day a woman named Butterball takes them in and shows them that family is what you make of it. Along the way, she meets a divorced older man with a spunky little girl and finds love in places she never expected it!
This was a quick read but I loved how Zelle made Tess seem real with everything she has gone through in her short life and what she and Paisley have to go through in order to survive. You may think the book is written like all the others but it's not, it's so much more and with a simple message that family isn't always blood.
Thank You to Zelle Andrews for writing such a excellent 1st book that I'm looking forward to seeing what is next!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley!
