The Weekenders is the story of how one summer will change a woman's life forever. Riley Griggs and her daughter, Maggie are waiting patiently for her husband, Wendall to show up at the ferry that will take them to their island home for the summer but while on the boat, Riley is handed divorce papers and not a word from her soon to be ex-husband. With the next morning that brings a horrible discovery of Wendall being killed and with a major secret that he was hiding from his family that left them with no house to be in on the island.

As Riley tries to understand what really happened and with a daughter that is a diabetic and rebeling at the same time, nothing seems to be going right. With them staying at her mother's house and having a brother that seems to be losing control over his drinking and having a long lost love show up, it makes for a summer that Riley won't forget. It all leads to a hurricane coming onshore when secrets will be reveled about who really killed Wendall and the chance for Riley to have true happiness at last.

OMG is all I have to say about this book!! If you ever read a Mary Kay Andrews books before, it's nothing like the other books but I loved it, it's a nice change that works for what she writes and I would love to see more books like this in the future!! It had a murder mystery, humor and a little bit of romance that you won't think would work but it does!!

Thank You to Mary Kay Andrews for writing yet another fantastic novel that draws you in and won't let go until the last word is read!!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley!
