From Dance Moms star and So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation judge Maddie Ziegler comes the first novel in a brand-new middle grade trilogy about friendship, dance, and going after your dreams.

Twelve-year-old Harper has been dancing practically since she learned to walk. She loves her dance studio and team, and just won her first ever top junior solo in a regional competition. But right before the school year starts, Harper’s parents drop a bombshell—the family has to relocate from their cozy town in Connecticut to sunny Florida for their jobs. That means saying goodbye to her friends, dance team, trips to see shows in NYC—and did she mentioned dance team?

While her parents reassure her that they will find her a new studio as soon as they move, Harper is not happy. When she arrives, she realizes that the competition in Florida will be fierce and it doesn’t matter how talented she is—she is the new girl and will have to prove herself. During her very first class, Harper finds it harder than she thought it would be. Even though they are all the same age and have been dancing for roughly the same amount of time, it feels like everyone has better feet, quicker turns, and faster taps than Harper. And it doesn’t help that a group of girls, who nicknamed themselves The Bunheads, wonder how she made the team if she can’t even do a simple turn sequence in front of the class.

Thankfully, Harper befriends Lily, a fellow newbie in the studio who is just as eager to make her mark and find a friendly face. With a big competition coming up for the dance team, Harper is determined to show everyone—especially those Bunheads—what she’s made of! And when a very badly timed sprained ankle threatens all of the work they have done, the Bunheads, Lily, and Harper must learn to truly work together to give them their best shot at the top spot!

Teen dance prodigy MADDIE ZIEGLER, became an overnight internet sensation after appearing in singer-songwriter Sia’s “Chandelier” music video in May 2014. The video has since garnered over 1.5 billion views, and in the last three years, Maddie has starred in four more of Sia’s videos, joined her on tour and performed on several national broadcasts including “Saturday Night Live,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” and the 2015 Grammy Awards. She has shown no signs of slowing down, expanding her resume to include actress, model, fashion designer, and New York Times Best-selling author.

The 2016 and 2017 Teen Choice Award winner for “Choice Dancer” began dancing at age 2. Raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Maddie’s mother Melissa enrolled her, and her younger sister Mackenzie in the Abby Lee Dance Company. A few years later their dance studio became the focus of the Lifetime reality series, “Dance Moms.” It was on the show that Sia took notice and recruited Maddie, launching a series of collaborations.

This past June, Maddie made her big screen debut in Focus Features’ drama THE BOOK OF HENRY, directed by Colin Trevorrow, starring alongside Naomi Watts, Jacob Tremblay, Sarah Silverman and Lee Pace. She also recently lent her voice to Weinstein Company’s animated feature LEAP! starring Elle Fanning and Nat Wolff. Maddie recently wrapped production on Sia’s film directorial debut SISTERS, starring opposite Kate Hudson.

On March 7, 2017, Maddie released “The Maddie Diaries,” a memoir about how she followed her dreams and worked hard to achieve success. The book debuted as #4 on the “Young Adult Hardcover” New York Times Bestseller List. This Fall, Aladdin Books will release “The Audition,” the first in a trilogy of young adult novels by Maddie about competitive dance.

In Fall 2016, Maddie unveiled her first clothing line MADDIE for girls and juniors. The collection can be found online at and in select Nordstrom stores across the country.
Her television credits include “Pretty Little Liars,” “Austin & Ally,” and “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn.” In Summer 2016, Maddie was the youngest judge on FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation” alongside Paula Abdul, Jason Derulo, and Nigel Lythgoe.
